Advanced Law Enforcement Defensive Driver Training

Police Chiefs and Supervisors

Law enforcement driving related accidents are one of the leading causes of injuries to police officers.

As part of North Carolina Leagues, Property and Liability and Workers' Compensation Insurance Pools, your department is invited to send an officer to the Advanced Defensive Driver Training class for law enforcement provided by the North Carolina League of Municipalities.

The training is scheduled for April 17th and 18th, 2024 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, 421 W 27th St, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27105.  The classroom portion will be conducted at Best Western Plus Unviversity. The goal of the training is to provide police departments with additional tools to evaluate and enhance their driver training programs and to reduce officer involved crashes. Training will include half a day of classroom instruction followed by a day and half of behind-the-wheel exercises on the driving course.

Space will be reserved for your department to send one officer to the training. It is recommended that this officer be a supervisor or trainer and who is in a position to provide departmental policy recommendation based on the training provided.  (Does not need to be a Driving Instructor)
