Dear Clerks of North Carolina:

The UNC School of Government, in cooperation with the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks (NCAMC) and the North Carolina League of Municipalities, is pleased to announce the schedule for its 2022 Annual Summer Conference, which will take place August  22-24, 2022, at the Renaissance Downtown in Asheville, North Carolina.  We hope that you will join us.  The theme of this year’s Academy is “We are the NCAMC family – EMBRACING EACH OTHER’S DIVERSITY!”

The conference will begin on MONDAY, August 22nd with instruction by Matt Booth an attitude expert, and author that has been on stages all around the world including Africa, Japan, England, Mexico, and Belize. Over the course of the first day Matt will provide an interactive experience that will engage, educate and entertain all that participate in the session.

The Academy’s other sessions will include an interactive session on Board reporting, conversation around embracing diversity, Electronic Notary requirements, exploration of conflicts of interest, oaths, and ethics, a review by NC State Treasurer services, a dive into Emotional Intelligence, Annexation basics, and an open conversation with an attorney panel on building relationships. This is an Academy you do not want to miss!

The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) has designated the UNC School of Government as a provider of educational programs for clerks. Clerks who successfully complete the Academy can earn credit towards the education requirements for the IIMC’s Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) or Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designations. Additionally, participants who have obtained the designation of North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk (NCCMC) can receive credit towards recertification.  Participants must successfully complete all sessions to receive certification points or recertification credit.

From this website you should be able to access the registration form and program information with details about each session, agenda, special activities, driving directions and information about hotel accommodations. If you are unable to register online or have any difficulty with the registration process, please contact events@nclm.org, and someone will be happy to assist you.  If you have any questions about Academy sessions, please contact Kristina Wilson at wilson@sog.unc.edu.

We are pleased to offer municipal clerks this opportunity to satisfy their education requirements.  We look forward to seeing you online at this year’s Summer Conference!
