Dear NC Association of Municipal Attorneys Members,
As President of the NC Association of Municipal Attorneys, and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome you to our summer conference!
This year’s conference will be held from August 4-6, 2022 at the scenic Renaissance Hotel in downtown Asheville. Our conference will include an educational component of six hours of CLEs, plenty of opportunities to network and we will also elect new members to our Board of Directors. The terms for the 2020-2022 directors expire this year, and the NCAMA will elect 4 new board members, the President, a First Vice President, and a Second Vice President.
Our Nominating Committee will meet prior to the conference to select the new slate of officers. The membership will vote on this slate during our business meeting following Saturday’s CLEs. If you would like to be considered for a board or officer position, please forward your name to the Committee Chair, Ash Smith at ashs@cityofgastonia.com or contact me at karenmcdonald@fayettevillenc.gov. The Association welcomes all those who are interested in serving.
As a reminder, this year, we will have a special “Saturday Soiree” where we will honor Anthony Fox as the latest recipient of the Ernest H. Ball – Frayda S. Bluestein Award for Excellence in Municipal Law. The Saturday Soiree will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar, along with recognition of our board members and officers. There will be brief remarks from me and your incoming President.
Like many of you, I look forward to this conference. It provides a time to meet new colleagues and strengthen old friendships. It is the membership of our Association that makes it special and I encourage everyone to attend and get involved.
