Dear Clerks of North Carolina:
The UNC School of Government, in cooperation with the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks (NCAMC) and the North Carolina League of Municipalities, is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2023 Annual Summer Conference, which will take place August 24-26, 2023, at the Wilmington Convention Center and Embassy Suites by Hilton Wilmington Riverfront. We hope that you will join us! The theme of this year’s Conference is We Are Champions! Courageous, Honorable, Adaptable, Motivated, Perseverant, Innovative, Optimistic, Necessary, and Strategic.
The conference will begin on Thursday, August 24 with sessions led by author, educator, and public speaker Dr. Kent Wessinger. Over the course of the first day Dr. Wessinger will share 3 WINS! Attract, Engage, & Retain your younger workforce. The 3 tiered progression begins with valid data, followed by strategy development and action steps.
Conference sessions on August 25 and August 26, 2023 will include Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Common Misunderstandings, State Treasurer’s Office Update, Best Practices for Files and Filing, NC League of Municipalities Legislative Update, Closed Sessions and more!
The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) has designated the UNC School of Government as a provider of educational programs for clerks. Clerks who attend the conference can earn credit towards the education requirements for the IIMC’s Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) or Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designations. Additionally, participants who have obtained the designation of North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk (NCCMC) can receive credit towards recertification. Participants must attend all sessions to receive certification points or recertification credit.
