Street festivals and parades are occurring with increasing frequency as cities and towns continue to
recover and adapt to a post-pandemic world. This 30-minute on-demand course will provide municipal
officials and leaders with an awareness of requirements for closing streets and roads so that municipal
risk is reduced and public safety is maintained.

In Module 1 (Managing Road Closures: Local Government Parades and Festivals), NCLM Risk Control
Consultants Amy Whisnant and Matt Reid will provide an overview of the basic state and federal rules
for street or road closures due to festivals and events, as well as practical tips and best practices to
mitigate municipal risk.

In Module 2 (Festivals and Events: A Deeper Dive), take a deeper dive into planning and budgeting
considerations that municipal officials must consider when preparing for festival and event road
closures.
